If you’re pants are feeling a little snug after a Thanksgiving weekend with loved ones, it’s time to step away from the leftovers and get back to your healthy living goals as soon as possible. Let Thanksgiving be a happy memory and get back on track by following this easy plan.

  1. Forgive yourself. Beating yourself up over the food choices you made over the holiday weekend won’t get you to your goals any faster. Forgive yourself for the extra piece of pie or a full weekend of holiday leftovers and get ready to move on. But do remember how uncomfortable you feel so you’ll have a reminder when Christmas rolls around that it feels better to be healthy.

  2. Clean up your diet. Don’t fall into a fad diet trend trying to undo the unhealthy food choices overnight, but do eat as cleanly as possible this week to reset your body and mind. Opt for fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, and lean proteins and resist the urge to add salt or sugar to your diet. Your body needs to be reminded what real, healthy, clean food tastes like. Adding fresh fruits to your diet also boosts your immune system to help you avoid the germs that are being shared by family and friends this holiday season!

  3. Restart your workout routine right away. Don’t let a holiday weekend become a holiday month. Get back to FitClub as soon as you can to fit in a healthy workout. Your body will welcome the movement after a weekend of relaxing with friends and family and you’ll immediately start to feel better when you commit to resuming your healthy lifestyle.

  4. Try yoga for a healthy detox. Yoga is a healthy alternative to unsafe detox diets. Twisting and stretching your way through yoga poses is a healthy way to promote digestion and release the toxins you may have taken in during the holiday weekend. Yoga is also the perfect compliment to a long weekend spent with friends and family and stressful holiday chores. Unwind your mind and body by checking out one of FitClub’s yoga classes this week.

  5. Drink up! Whether you over-indulged in holiday cocktails or too many salt-laden foods, water is the cure for the holiday water weight your body is storing this week. Make sure you’re getting plenty of water to move the unhealthy foods through your system and undo the overindulgence of the holiday season.

Commit to resuming your healthy lifestyle today and over the next few days you’ll reap the rewards of more energy, less stress, and better overall health. The holidays can be a difficult time to make healthy living a priority, but making it to FitClub during the next few weeks will keep you surrounded by people with the same healthy goals and help you avoid losing motivation and gaining pounds during the holiday season.
