Everyone wants to be fitter, healthier and happier, but sometimes getting started is the hardest part of fitness.  How can you start exercising when you have no idea how to begin?  Are you worried that you will waste time and effort figuring everything out?  Maybe you’re worried that you’ll injure yourself before you begin to see progress. It doesn’t have to be complicated.  Before you waste another day wondering how to get in shape, FitClubhas three easy tricks for starting a fitness program that works for you long-term.

  1. How’s your health? You can’t set a goal if you don’t have a firm grasp on your starting position.  Are you healthy enough for strenuous physical activity or do you need to begin slowly with low-impact, moderate exercise?  If your doctor has cleared you for physical activity, stepping on FitClub’s System can give you the details you need to establish your baseline and plan your goals. The InBody System can give you an in depth analysis of your current muscle to fat ratio and help you make informed decisions about how to begin a more active lifestyle.  Having your baseline InBody analysis is also a great way to measure progress down the road.

  2. Consider your goals. Whether your goal is to exercise three times each week or to achieve a certain benchmark, your goal should be unique and something that really resonates with you.  Allowing yourself time to build up to a consistent and strenuous effort will also make it easier to stick with your goal when excuses pop up.  If you’re unsure what a reasonable fitness goal might be, work with a personal trainer to help you develop the goal that best fits your interests and new, healthy lifestyle.

  3. Start slow and carefully. Nothing derails a new fitness program more quickly than injury or burnout.  No matter how eager you are to get fitter and achieve your new goal, starting out too fast without enough rest can leave your muscles aching for days.  At the beginning, just building consistency is key. Moving through each repetition or activity with careful attention to form will leave you feeling stronger without wasting time recovering from an injury or excessive muscle soreness.  If you’re at all in doubt as to the proper form or mechanics to use, talk to a personal trainer at FitClub for more information.  A personal trainer not only can teach you the proper form you should be using throughout your routine, but may also introduce you to moves or machines that can accelerate your progress and keep you from experiencing burnout.

This is the time of year we all undergo some form of self evaluation and start to make goals for the next year.  There’s no reason to wait, FitClub is ready to help you start improving your health today!
